The activities of Azerbaijani language schools in Canada were discussed

At the initiative of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora (SCWD), representatives of the Azerbaijani community discussed the activities of Azerbaijani language weekend schools in Canada.
Opening the virtual event, the head of the department of the State Committee Salhat Abbasova said that the video conference is important for the protection of our national and cultural heritage and the non-assimilation of our compatriots living abroad. She noted that taking into account the importance of the issue, the SCWR provided the publication of an illustrative and modern textbook "Azerbaijani language" that meets the requirements of our compatriots living abroad. To make it available, electronic version of the textbook has been posted on the committee's official website.
The event was addressed by Yegana Jafarova, a teacher of the Azerbaijani language class in Toronto, Vusala Ahmadova, co-founder and head instructor of the “Karabakh” Azerbaijani Language School, Rena Muslimova, head of the Montreal-Canada-Azerbaijan Society, and Lalin Hasanova, head of the “Vatan” Azerbaijan Art and Culture Center.
They gave detailed information about the activities of the schools they represent and the preservation of the language of different peoples in Canada. They praised the efforts of our compatriots engaged in the promotion and teaching of the Azerbaijani language abroad. They stressed the importance of these educational institutions in terms of the growth of Azerbaijani children in the national spirit, strengthening ties with the historical homeland.
Participants of the event proposed to open Azerbaijani language school in Montreal, to attract new textbooks, workbooks and young teachers to teach the Azerbaijani language in a modern form.
It was decided to continue virtual discussions at the meeting.
