The year 2020, written in the memory with our glorious Victory in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, was also a testing year for the Azerbaijani diaspora in connection with COVID-19 and Tovuz provocations committed by the occupying Armenians.
The Azerbaijani diaspora, which showed organization and agility during the COVID-19 and Tovuz provocations, once again demonstrated its unity in the Patriotic War. The activity of our diaspora did not end only with participation in the information struggle and conveying the true voice of our state to the international community. Our compatriots living abroad also demonstrated special activity in material and technical support actions provided to our state, army, families of martyrs and veterans.
During the 44-day war, the Azerbaijani diaspora in various American and European countries provided financial support to our army, families of martyrs and veterans in the amount of 332,640 manat, 188,416 US dollars and 118,782 Euros (total: 900,073 manat).
The funds were delivered through the Fund for Support to Azerbaijani Diaspora and the Armed Forces Assistance Fund, as well as directly.
Along with financial resources, thousands of warm clothes, food packages and medical equipment were sent to our country at the initiative of our compatriots. A group of our compatriots living in Canada took care of 101 martyrs’ families.
As the leadership and staff of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, we express our gratitude to our compatriots abroad for their unity and organization during the 44-day war, for their material and technical support, and wish them new achievements in the coming years.
