The head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia has died

Fazil Samad oglu Gurbanov was born on February 18, 1944 in Baku. In 1973 he graduated from the Azerbaijan Medical Institute named after N.Narimanov (now Azerbaijan Medical University), faculty of treatment and prevention. Fazil Gurbanov entered the postgraduate course at the All-Union Scientific-Surgical Center of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences in 1980. In 1983 he defended his PhD and in 1987 his doctoral dissertation.
In 1989, he began working at the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Gastroenterology Institute as the head of the department of esophageal, gastric and duodenal surgery, and became a professor at the Department of Surgery of the Azerbaijan Medical Institute.
Our compatriot, who has been working in Moscow since 1999, headed the Department of Surgery at the Central Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko of the Ministry of Roads of the Russian Federation, and was also a professor of the Department of Hospital Surgery at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
The prominent academician is the author of more than 230 scientific works, including 3 monographs, 18 inventions and rationalizing proposals. Under his leadership 7 doctors of sciences and 14 doctors of philosophy were prepared.
Fazil Gurbanov was elected a corresponding member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in 2014, and a full member of ANAS in 2017.
In 2016, Gurbanov was elected chairman of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress.
